What Competitive Cyber Security Looks Like
Competitive Cyber Security covers a great deal of topics around Information Technology (IT). This competition, contrary to popular belief, was not a “who can hack who faster” competition. This competition involved building a critical infrastructure that is secure and usable, conducting cyber forensics, and testing defenses of products and procedures. Cyber Security is a balancing act of making things secure while still making them usable.
Matthew competed in a competition called SkillsUSA Nationals. The SkillsUSA conference is a trade conference that showcases skills – anything from Construction, Welding, Food, to IT. To compete in SkillsUSA Nationals, one must place 1st in SkillsUSA State. Matthew competed in this national competition after winning state, and traveled to Atlanta, Georgia, to compete against others from around the country.
SkillsUSA Nationals is an amazing event which consisted of 8-hour days of building, configuring, testing, and exploiting systems and servers. There was much to be learned from competing with the best of the best around the country. We are proud of Matthew Bryce for competing and taking 8th place in the nation. He is more prepared than ever to incorporate these learnings into his career of helping Frankel Technology’s clients remain secure in an ever-changing Cyber Security landscape.
